Going Beyond Travel, Inc.
Our Vision
Going Beyond Travel believes that all individuals should be given the opportunity to travel.
Our Mission
Adventurous group tour specifically designed for adults with cognitive disabilities.
Our History
Going Beyond Travel, Inc. was established in 1995 by Pam and Monty Hunt. While we were attending a Special Olympics meet in 1994, we realized the lack of vacation opportunities available for people with cognitive challenges.
In 1995, we planned four vacations and escorted a total of twenty-eight clients on weekend or five day vacations. In 2006, we planned twenty-four trips and had over four hundred clients go on vacations with us!
Our business was started with very little capital. We rented 15-passenger vans when we escorted a trip. In 2003, we took cash out of the business to purchase a used 25-passenger bus, so our clients could travel more comfortably and be together in one vehicle (as opposed to our often renting two vans to accommodate all of our clients).
In 2006, we sold the bus to purchase another used bus: one with a wheelchair lift so we could better accommodate people in wheelchairs and allow them to go on vacations.
In 2008 we purchased a brand new bus! This new 2008 Starcraft XLT was a 29 passenger or 24 passengers plus two in wheel chairs and was built on Ford F-650 Chassis with s the best suspension available in a mini-coach of this size. We take pride in offer comfort and a safe ride for all of our passengers.
We updated our bus in 2013 with a new 2013 International StarCraft XLT with now 32 seats (or 26 ambulatory passengers and 2 in wheelchairs). It the best built Mini-coach on the market. The ride is quieter and smoother than our former bus.
In 2020, we purchased a Thomas C-Liner Bus. It has a better heating and cooling system, with large windows for the travelers enjoyment.
Since 2008 we have really grown in our charter services. We work with many different senior groups, schools and companies/businesses to provide group transportation to a variety of venues.
